Studies in Architecture, Art, Design, History, and Preservation
Newport Summer School, May 31 - June 9, 2013
Course Director Richard Guy Wilson, the Commonwealth Professor and Chair of Architectural History at the University of Virginia, and a distinguished roster of local experts and scholars provide a comprehensive survey focusing on the Gilded Age of Newport, the "queen" of American resorts. Lectures and tours of public and private buildings, they address 18th - 20th century histories of architecture, interiors, landscape, city planning, and preservation, fine and decorative arts, and museums in and around Newport. The program is based at Salve Regina University, taking full advantage of the campus's location amidst Newport's most celebrated summer cottages.
Graduate students, academics, professionals, and enthusiasts interested in museums, arts, architecture, and design professionals are encouraged to apply.
