Event Description

The Frank Lloyd Wright Trust is kicking off a year-long celebration of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Frank Lloyd Wright with special features for the annual Housewalk, Wright Plus 150, on Saturday, May 20 in Oak Park, Ill.

Presenting interior tours of rarely seen private homes and public buildings designed by Wright and his contemporaries, Wright Plus 150 includes:

  •  Four private Wright homes: The visionary Laura Gale House (1909), Wright's spectacular Arthur B. Heurtley House (1902), his Japanese-influenced Hills DeCaro House (1906) and his remodeling in the Harrison P. Young House (1895).
  • Refreshments and a tour at Wright's Thomas H. Gale House (1892), an oasis for Trust members only.
  • A full lineup of featured homes located in an easily walkable loop, just steps from Wright’s Oak Park Home and Studio.

Also special for Wright Plus are two luxury experiences for architecture and design enthusiasts.

  • The Ultimate Plus Weekend Package, May18-21, provides four days of exclusive tours and activities, including a gourmet dinner at a private Frank Lloyd Wright home, Fast Pass access to the Wright Plus 150 Housewalk, a hotel stay and more.
  • New for Wright Plus 150 is Ultimate Saturday, with highlights of the Ultimate Plus package on the day of the Housewalk.

The Wright Plus 150 Housewalk lineup totals 10 private homes, a combination of Wright’s early experiments and his fully formed Prairie-style homes, as well as Prairie designs and traditional styles by other architects. Thoroughly researched presentation displays and docent-led tours are provided at each house. For more information about the houses on Wright Plus 150, visit flwright.org/wrightplus.

Also on the Wright Plus tour is the place where Wright’s innovative Prairie homes were designed and his studio architects worked: Frank Lloyd Wright’s Home and Studio. Wright Plus tickets include entry to Wright’s Prairie-style masterpiece, the Frederick C. Robie House in Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood and The Rookery in the heart of Chicago’s financial district.

Tickets to the Wright Plus 150 Housewalk are available at $90 each for up to four tickets, $80 each for Trust members, through Feb. 28. Ticket prices will then increase by $5 to $10 monthly on a tiered pricing schedule. For more information about tickets to the Wright Plus 150 Housewalk, visit flwright.org/wrightplus.

The all-access Ultimate Plus Weekend Package is $2,650 and $2,500 for Trust members. For more information about Ultimate Plus, visit flwright.org/ultimateplus. Ultimate Saturday is $1,350 and $1,200 for Trust members. For more information about Ultimate Saturday, visit flwright.org/ultimatesaturday.
