My Old House Online

An online community for people who love old houses.

A fabulous old house web site. This I guarantee. (And now with the link!)

http://oldhousedreams.com/

For those of you who like to look at pictures of real old houses, the beauty and the warts, and to see what they actually are selling for, this is the site for you.  Definitely worthy of a bookmark.
(Sorry, initially cut and pasted in the url, but that did not work.  Now I used the link feature and it is fixed.)

Wow cool site!!! I wish the people who own the Sorg Mansion in my town would have posted it up on here. I think it will end up being bought, gutted, and the shell resold :( Some of these houses are kind of expensive on here, but are super cool to look at.
My understanding is that the web site owner has bookmarked searches for historical properties on several real estate search engines and posts those that look great on the site. I think that people can send in suggestions for posting. I just like it, because it shows so much interior detail.
It makes my wife and I drool lol. Maybe I should suggest the Sorg. The site does give us quite a few ideas for our house too. It is a great site, like you said it would be :)
Yes, you can submit houses if you'd like to see them posted. As long as it is interesting to look at without having been renovated with cookie-cutter updates. :)

I've added the Sorg Mansion to my pending post list, it looks like an awesome house, thanks! :)
I take it that this is your site? It is a really fun one to look through, which is why I posted it here on this forum. Thanks for doing this.
Yes, it is my site. Glad you enjoy it! That's why I created it, so that others can drool over my house finds with me. :)
I really love it. Great photos too.

A bit of constructive criticism?

The Queen Anne section is huge and it appears that it's all loading onto one page! After several minutes on my high speed connection, the hundreds of photos never finished loading. Even so, scrolling a six mile long page is nearly impossible. Is there a way you can paginate for "ease of navigation" sake?
You're right, I've been including more pics in each post than I use to and didn't think to change the post amount per page. I've switched it to 2 posts per page, so now should only be a mile or two long. :)
I noticed it was on there!!!!! I heard that a pipe broke somewhere on the 3rd floor, and flooded the basement up to the first floor.. causing a LOT of damage :( I have more pictures of the sorg mansion if you want them. It is just a few houses away from my house. Thanks for adding it! I hope someone restores the place. I think an offer of 110K was accepted for the place.. but don't know if the buyers backed out bec of the water damage I heard about.
Do you have any additional of the interior? I think the exterior pics are covered but there were so few of the interior. Sad to hear about the burst pipe, but I hope whomever offered some money on the place still buys it and restores it, I'd hate to hear it was gutted or torn down.
Yeah I have a ton of interior and exterior pictures. A friend of mine was trying to buy it before. I guess a family here bought the place in the 30s, FULLY FURNISHED. Sometime in the 80s, the original furniture was auctioned off. Someone down the street has the dining room server. I hope to see it in person sometime. All the built ins are still in the attic area.

Shoot me your email, and I can send you everything I have if you want. I would be more than happy to! :)
Wow. Just went to Oldhousedreams and searched for Sorg. What a house. Is that in the same town that your house is in, Martin?
