Advice needed for shower enclosure for a clawfoot tub

Jeff, I added three pictures to my journal page of our bathroom restoration. We originally used white curtains for the shower enclosure, but I switched to clear plastic curtains from Target. The shower enclosure/riser was purchased as a special order from a local plumbing store. Our house is Queen Anne, built in 1903, but I think most houses back then had the standard clawfoot tub. We did not have space in our bathroom for a separate shower enclosure. Hope this gives you some insight. Susan

I bought the faucet, drain, and the shower/curtain rod from Renovators Supply catalog. It was very high quality and fast delivery.

Dear Lair:

Thanks for your reply. A question that I have is, " How is the shower flow from the head?" I have found from various customer reports that some systems have nothing more than a feeble "rain shower" flow from the shower head. How is the flow from your head? Personally, I would like to have more flow than a "rain shower". Should I invest in a different shower head or go with a system that incorporates a hand-held system as an accessory? your insight is greatly appreciated.

The flow is pretty good but the plumbing was all redone in copper 10 years ago. In most old houses I think the poor flow is due to lack of water pressure.When we took out the old 3/4" galvanized pipes it was not possible to insert a pencil through the pipe. There would have been more pressure using a 1/4" line in place of using the old pipe. The pipes coming in from the city are still restricted flow. They were put in about 1920 and I imagine have plenty of obstructions in them as well. When I replumbed the house I ran 3/4" copper for the bathroom but I didn't notice much difference in the pressure. I use the water fall for my shower but for the final rinse I turn on my hand held shower (set on jet setting) to get that clean feeling. I hope that helps in your decision.
