Looking for Replace Damaged Tiles in My Fireplace Surround

Hi,

I am interested in replacing some damaged tiles in my fireplace surround if I can find
any tiles that have the right color (green/brown). Attached are a couple of pictures.

Does anyone know where I could find tiles like these that I could buy? I have posted pictures
in a wanted ad on Craiglist but this seems a shot in the dark.

thanks in advance!
Ian

I would take a sample tile to a professional installer. They may know.

If you can't find replacements, can you replace the damaged ones with others from the top or bottom? then fill in the new space with something different like a darker border tile or something? Seems unlikely from looking at your pictures though.

I'd just learn to live with it. Old houses are full of imperfections... that's what makes them special.
Thanks for your thoughts .... using tiles from the surrounding area is an interesting idea.

I agree that the imperfections are what make old houses unique!
I had a friend that had tile like that he had to replace several, like a dozen. He ended up finding new tile just like them and had them sand blasted to rough them up, and then sponge painted them the right color. After a few layers of gloss tinted varnish you couldn't tell the difference. Just an idea, if you can't find the old ones. Good Luck.
Thanks for your advice .... that is great idea, very creative. My tiles have some interesting green/brown tints so it would be fun to try to recreate this.
People come and go on this forum, but I recall that someone a while back had an antique tile business. Some searching of the posts might pay off.
Thanks for your comment; I will look through some old posts. I am new to the website and I am enjoying looking at all the discussions and certainly appreciate the advice.

Sometimes you can find some matching tiles on Ebay.
Yeah I second ebay as well. I have some broken tiles but yet to find any exact matches either. It isn't an old house unless it has 1 or many imperfections :)

thanks for the ebay recommendation. I have been checking to see if something turns up.

Don't worry, my house has plenty of imperfections to enjoy!

I tried to see if these guys shipped to the U.S., but it isn't clear. This is one of three sites that this outfit supports (the others are linked on the page), but this site actually showed mottled tile that looked reasonably close to yours. Not sure about the size, though...

cool, thanks for the link. The mottled tile does look close.
