Replacing period consistant concrete block- 1895-1905 Zanesville, Ohio

Folks, I am about to have a contractor replace some foundation concrete blocks on my house. I would like to have something that closely resembles the existing block. What are my choices?

Thanks,

Jeff Starkey

Dear Randall:

Sorry about the lateness of the reply. I have included some pictures of the style of block that could be of help with this project.

Thanks,

Jeff, they appear to be painted concrete decorative block. Take these pictures to your local masonry store and see if they have similar blocks. Buy a sample to take home. You should be able to get close to the original. I did a google search "masonry blocks" http://classicrockfaceblock.com/products.php http://www.superliteblock.com/index.htm.
This is a bit late, but I just saw your posting.

When we added an addition to our house, we used regular cinderblocks but then faced them with a 2" veneer from Pacific Wholesale Supply, 92 Cottage Lane, Sequim, Washington 98382. They have an old cinderblock press that makes cinderblocks that looked like split rock. They will sell you 2" veneer you can put on modern blocks, which helps with the shipping cost.
