My Old House Online

An online community for people who love old houses.

which maybe can be added?
1) the counter that told us how many people had read a post. That was fun to watch. Good for the ego sometimes too!
2) the ability to edit before posting. I am not always even coherent on the first write - my transitions and sentence structure can make sense only to me. I often have trouble finding words to describe what I see.The small space to write, so I can't see the whole post, and the immediate posting mean I can't rethink and correct.

I see I can edit my post here, but not my post on a blog. what am I missing?
Hi Jane! Thanks for writing in!

1. We're looking in to having a "View" counter placed on the new site. Right now we can obviously display how many people have responded, but not how many have viewed a discussion or post. We'll keep you posted on our progress!

2. We've abide by a "15 Minute Rule" regarding editing Forum discussion replies, though you should be able to Edit/Delete a post at any time. The rationale for the 15 minute rule? To maintain the integrity of discussions and replies, we allow members to edit posts for 15 minutes. We think this is enough time to correct a typo, while ensuring that people don't "rewrite history." We do, however, let members delete their own posts or discussions they've started at any time.

You can also "Delete" any response you make at any time (whether it be to a Forum discussion or a Blog post) by clicking on the Grey "X" in the upper right hand corner of your comment.
We know this system isn't perfect, but are confident that it is a better option than our old system. We'd love to hear your (and the community's) feedback on this issue.

Thoughts?

I thank you for responding so quickly, however what I really need to know is how doe`s one, simply leave a letter for the magazine? That`s what I need to know.
Thanks
Here is something that I miss: the main page shows recent posts, replies, activities, etc. This is great, because it keeps a person from potentially sifting through previously read stuff to find new stuff. But there is no link to go back further than the front page. A link to keep working backwards through the recent activity would be nice. The old site would remember what you had read or not, going back for weeks if you hadn't been to the site recently. The new site is more involved than a simple board, so I am not suggesting a return to that, but the ability to see recent activity beyond one screen would be great.
