Yes it is Jayne!! A German couple boarded it up, along with other significant features (for a modest home) after WWII. Our neighbours said they were a lovely couple but harboured much fear after the war and were extremely reclusive. The (my) house at the time was called "the haunted house" due to the maximum amount of shrubbery, trees and window blinds that they planted and installed. It's quite sad when you think about it...

On the bright side, it was a case of horseshoes that the window wasn't damaged with the crowbar!! Thank you for your comment!

It looks like Glazed Bricks behind the Wallpaper. (Was the 'Cover-Up' the Near-Disaster, or the Pealing Paper??)
