Amazing, the gun is so cool.
It is a Brown Bess flintlock replica, sans the bayonet. There is now a black Napoleon wood stove in place of the burgundy Vermont castings which has now been placed in another fireplace. I need to update my photos as i make improvements to the old home.
Looking forward to your new photos, i want to have a look your new fireplace:)
i like this Gun very much.
Before: Fireplace before removing boards and revealing the bricks.
Interesting idea. Thank you for sharing the image.
You are most welcome. In 1950 the Murdock family restored the home in the first period style. I have recently discovered that some of the original features were slightly covered up, but again, very well done. It is hard to come across a home of this age in such good shape. The Murdock family relatives still come to visit the farm, all the way from Georgia! Without this family I would be guessing at restorations but they have provided photos and info needed to do it properly. How wonderful is that!
