We bought carpet for 2 rooms of our 1895 Queen Ann. We've refinished all of the floors, but would like to carpet the music room and foyer and 2 or 3 bedrooms and the back staircase and upstairs hallway. The carpet is manufactured by Millikin. It is beautiful and looks Victorian, but it is pricey. Does anyone have experience with actually going to the Dalton, Georgia factories to buy and transport the carpet for yourself? - Married, four grown children six grand kids, restoring 1895 Queen Anne.

- Loving old houses and antiques has been our life long passion. We began with furnishing our ranch style homes (wherever we lived), with antiques in the hopes of finding the "right" old house some day. We found a beautiful 1895 Queen Ann with a spiral, oak staircase in the foyer. Both the first and second floor hallways are in the shape of a pentagon with a door on each wall leading to a different room. The 2nd floor also has an "L" shaped hallway and a front and back landing for the two staircases. We have a beautiful room on the second floor that serves as our laundry room, sewing room, and closet, it is 16'X20' after we finished it off with drywall and carpet. This room is attached to one of the bedrooms, yet it had remained unfinished like an attic space for 100 years! We began our renovation with removal of all the carpet, every ceiling had been dropped, and every wall covered in panelling. One of the bedrooms had appliance hook-ups for a "Mother-in-law" efficiency apartment. It took 4, 30 yard dumpsters for the interior demolition and the removal of the asphalt siding on the exterior. The interior renovation is almost complete, including an amazing kitchen, (which has an indoor root cellar). We also have a detached garage and workshop, an in-ground pool, and 2 lots.
