We are a couple who are crazy about our old house -- fondly referred to in the neighborhood as "The Mushroom House." Our house was built in 1926 by an English couple - the Stevensons. The plans originally called for traditional Craftsman exposed rafter beams in the roof soffit, but since the Stevensons missed the architecture of their homeland they requested this Storybook architecture feature of a wrapped-edge or rolled-edge roof to mimic a Cotsworth cottage.

You know, you find the old "knob and tube" wiring where you least expect it. I've adopted the rule, "If there is a wall, then there is knob and tube behind it."
