"Swede,
I would love to see some pictures! It sounds so similar to our building, except ours isn't brick. Ours was built in 1912, and is 32'x72'. Part of the width is an addition, kind of an afterthought, because it's barely…"

I live in a 1912 story and a half old southern country house. I am also part of a group restoring a 1912 commercial building.
Tell us about your old-house experiences and dreams:
Work on my house has been mainly necessities. I painted the exterior, replaced porch posts, repaired old siding that had been hidden under masonite. I would like to pull up the old yucky carpeting and get to my heart pine wood floor, but I found that under the carpeting was tile cemented onto 1/4 inch plywood over the wood. And walls were added on top of that floor. It's always more involved than you first think!
Charlotte:
This building is located in "downtown" Lindsborg, Kansas. Built in 1899, this 20' x 65' brick commercial/residential building contains its original stained glass windows and metal stamping on either side of the door. The beadboard ceiling is original as well. The second story is original, but with considerable, old (non-active) water damage. The floorplan consists of a small bathroom with four rooms connected with a hall running about 3/4th of the building's length. It hasn't been occupied in at least 50 years, but I hope to change that by working with the state historical society to build a rural loft. A single-story building is attached on the alley side. This 15' x 30' building brick once served as the kitchen when the main structure was a restaurant from the 1910's to the 1950's. If you are interested in some pictures, please let me know.
