- Tell us about yourself:
- I am a Architect, Designer, and Preservation Consultant with over 18 years in the Preservation and Cultural Resource Management fields. I currently serve as a private consultant to individuals, public and private agencies as they take steps to rehabilitate and restore historic properties. I am located in the Southeastern United States and serve clients as far away as Oregon and Maine. My focus is on the protection and maintenance of not only the historic built environment but also period gardens and historic view sheds. I prefer to promote historic preservation from an economic development/marketing platform but have not lost site of the sentimental and artistic value of historic resources.
- Tell us about your old-house experiences and dreams:
- I promote the use of the Secretary of the Interior's Standards in all of the work that I do. From commercial buildings and residential structures to appropriate infill designs. Lately, the bulk of my work has taken place in Toccoa, Georgia's Historic Downtown Commercial District. Here I am assisting the City and downtown property owners to restore their shopping district and revitalize the local economy. The results have been fantastic.
