Profile Information

Tell us about yourself:
garden photographer/writer
I live in Rudyard Kipling's carriage house with the main house, Naulakha right next door. When not photographing and writing about New England gardens, I help my husband's non-profit, The Landmark Trust USA. Landmark rescues important historic properties that have fallen into disrepair and brings them back to life. Once restored the buildings are rented for vacations and also host educational programs and community events.
Tell us about your old-house experiences and dreams:
I have been fortunate to have been the "caretaker" of a 1920s cape, a 1874 Victorian farmhouse on Cape Cod, and a 1772 Cape Cod house. All needed serious help and got it! Right now I've living a dream in Rudyard Kipling's Carriage House in southern Vermont and because my husband is the president of The Landmark Trust USA I get do an occassional "maintenance" stay at Landmark's properties: The 1802 brick farmhouse, Amos Brown, that sits on 30 secluded acres, so silent that I'm tempted to unplug the refrigerator for total peace; the mid-1800s Dutton Farm House, a beauty of a Greek Revival; a sweet little Sugarhouse for two that is good for snuggling; and I'm still begging for a night at Kipling's home!
