Profile Information

Tell us about yourself:
After being graduated from the Penn program in Historic Preservation and working as an independent restoration contractor, I am currently the Director of Conservation for the Fairmount Park Historic Preservation Trust in Philadelphia. In addition, I teach a course in Building Conservation in the Bucks County Community College preservation program.
Tell us about your old-house experiences and dreams:
Many years ago, before I was an old house owner, a friend of mine (wise beyond his years) who rehabbed old buildings on a part-time basis often said "there's no such thing as a small job." I later learned through the Old House Journal of something known as the "mushroom principle." Learn to expect a bit more work than you bargained for and you can keep your frustration level in check.

Ray, I've been enjoying your articles in recent issues of OHJ.

- by hammer and hand great works do stand
- by pen and thought best words are wrought
