Here's where I got the idea and plans: http://www.oceanmanorhouse.com/?page=paintremover
I've since bought a PaintShaver Pro & HEPA vac. Removing the old paint is going much faster now. I'll still need to use the IR stripper for…
Can you sedcribe how you made your infra red stripper...we have used the silent type brand with much success but they're very expensive and we keep having to order new bulbs.
I'm a recent (since 2000) transplant to the NC Blue Ridge mountains, and love it, especially in the winters! Last year, I started a second career as a Realtor, and wish I'd done it much sooner. This is a wonderful place to live, come visit (and I'll sell you a house :))
Tell us about your old-house experiences and dreams:
My husband and I purchased our rambling 1883 fixer-upper when we moved to Linville Falls. It once was an inn, with eight 8'x8' guest rooms in the rear wing. We had it approved for the National Register of Historic Places, along with the little red 1902 Post Office beside it, and hope to eventually reopen it as an inn.
We are verrry slooowly working on the house, still dealing with foundation issues. My husband tore out the kitchen two months ago and then took his crew to work on a house he is building for clients. Still no kitchen, one dilapidated bathroom, no central heat or insulation, raccoons and bats in the attic -- don't really know why I like it so much! I can envision the finished product in my mind, I hope this grandma lives long enough to see it for real!
