Tanya replied to Phil's discussion Here is a depressing article
"If her kids are chewing on fireplace mantels she has more problems than lead paint. That is just crazy. Hopefully the new owner will appreciate them and in a funny twist of fate she will visit the home they go to and the lucky buyers can exclaim…"

Tanya replied to Martin's discussion Repainting the outside of a cast iron clawfoot tub...
"I can't remember what we painted ours with but think it was a Rustoleum paint that is rolled on. I will tell you that using ordinary house paint is a bad idea, that is what was on there before and we had to take it in to have it sand blasted. :("

Tanya replied to Martin's discussion Late Victorian house, is it a folk victorian?
"I'm so bummed that the niche isn't something more exotic! LOL That is so great that the neighbors know so much about your house. Mine seem to think they know all about my house but most of what they tell me makes no sense at all. I…"

Tanya replied to Martin's discussion Late Victorian house, is it a folk victorian?
"Hey Brad if you ever get bored and want to relive the days of crawling under a house come on over to MT. My crawlspace is dry and connected to a small basement but full of cement rubble. No idea why, those people did some really perplexing things…"

Tanya replied to Martin's discussion Late Victorian house, is it a folk victorian?
"Hey welcome back to the states. No madcap experiences from the animals just smooth flying/sailing huh? Great!!!! Have you let the dogs loose in the yard yet or do you still have them on leash? Can hardly wait to see what you figure out about the…"

Tanya replied to Martin's discussion Late Victorian house, is it a folk victorian?
"I remember watching a show on the body in the barrel. The previous owner had killed his lover and stuffed her and his unborn child in the barrel and put it under his home. Then forgot about it!!! If you can't remember that you killed someone…"

Tanya replied to Martin's discussion Late Victorian house, is it a folk victorian?
"Yuck don't get my imagination going like that for bodies. The previous owner had a revolving door on pets that came and gone. Nobody really knows where they dogs would go to but she'd get tired of them and poof they'd disappear. Add…"

Tanya replied to Jana Petty's discussion What kind of house is this?
"Looks like a farmhouse type of house with additions, probably about the time the foundation was poured. The proof would be in the basement where the old foundation should still be or at least the remnants. I can see the old set up and then the newer…"

Tanya replied to Martin's discussion Late Victorian house, is it a folk victorian?
"could the brick part be an cistern room or something along those lines. Maybe you'll find out it was part of a bootleg operation, that would be a cool find. Or maybe some sort of root cellar. I've got some odd areas in my basement too that…"

Tanya replied to Martin's discussion Late Victorian house, is it a folk victorian?
"Only a true dog lover could say with a straight face that the dogs sleep in their bed while they sleep on the futon. :) How are you going to fill up the house with furniture or do you have stuff already stashed away here from before? Can't…"

Tanya replied to Martin's discussion Late Victorian house, is it a folk victorian?
"How fun, you get to camp out while waiting for furniture. LOL At least the dogs will be happy with whatever you toss down for them. Mine just need a forgot t-shirt on the floor and they are in doggie heaven. Is this house bigger than your home in…"

Tanya replied to Martin's discussion Late Victorian house, is it a folk victorian?
"I will have to look them up, how horrible that they are destroyed after they are useful for the season. Hope more people get them out fo the country and continue the lines elsewhere. I have Chinese Cresteds and part of their history is that they…"

Tanya replied to Martin's discussion Late Victorian house, is it a folk victorian?
"Spanish Greyhounds, wow never heard of that breed before. Sounds like maybe the in-between size from the Italian Greyhound and English Greyhound (is that what a greyhound is, English?). That is great that you took the two in from a poor owner and…"

"You bring up another problem, I wouldn't be able to run the rail on the arch wall because the arch is rather close to the ceiling. I think. Now I'll have to look when I get home from work tonight. LOL I like your idea Mike and maybe…"

"I may not be understanding what you are saying totally - hard to picture without seeing pics.........but here is a shot - - - what if you simply forget about trying to tie them into the stairs and/or arch trim. Just put them at the height you desire…"

Tell us about yourself:
Work in the ofice of a general contractor, own a 1930 Foursquare (?) and spend every minute and penny on this house.
Tell us about your old-house experiences and dreams:
1930 home that I'm still digging into the history of. I suspect it is older than listed because of what background I do know about it. Grandparents owned a Victorian inspired cottonwood log home.
