Born in Vermont, transplanted to Indiana, tempered by the USMC in Vietnam, educated at Purdue University, employed by Dow Chemical building chemical plants and managing service departments. In the process of life I have picked up most of the skills necessary for the restoration of an old house. I still have all my fingers, eyes and toes, but spent 2 years and 2 operations repairing an smashed ankle resulting from a fall from our roof.
Tell us about your old-house experiences and dreams:
My wife and I have been restoring a Victorian house in Bay City,Mi since 1973, both inside and out. We got there by restoring Victorian furniture that required a house to fit them in. We started with Old House Journal from the first pamphlet and have all the copies. It seemed that we were always one major project ahead of your monthly features, which would have been a lot easier had we done it your way.
