John, Yes, the frames are gone, I've taken the cottage to the studs and the replacement windows are much smaller than the originals. I thought I'd find lath and plaster, but 99% of the walls were covered with a pressed cardboard...based…

Old window frames

The previous owners of my 1920 cottage replaced the original windows and saved the original sashes but not the frames. I have gutted the interior and easily can take out the smaller replacement windows restoring the original size openings without much difficulty. There are many sashed with wavey glass in the garage and attic that appear to be original to the house.Can anyone reccommend a book or site where I can acquire the knowledge to build replacements.I received my first OHJ today and was…See More
