Plaster Woes

Spent the majority of the day in the office/tv room scraping the wretched texture coat off my plaster walls.  Discovered why the individual who thought this was a good idea did what he or she did.  Many cracks and a lot of uneven areas where the plaster has dislodged from the lathe.  Checking out videos on Youtube ... Advice On Plaster

Good evening fellow old house enthusiasts.  I just purchased my first home (1905 cottage/tudor/craftsman??? - lovely mongrel...lol) and I have MANY issues with plaster.  The first and foremost problem I have encountered is previous homeowners applying a semi-thick coat of joint compound-like material combed into a texture pattern over the original plaster.  What would be the best way to remove this coating without disturbing the integrity of the plaster below it?  I did do a "trial" removal…

Historic Porch lattice work

Does anyone know where I could purchase panels of wood or wood composite square porch lattice work? I am not looking for the cheap ones that you could find at Home Depot or Lowes. I want the authentic looking 1" x 1" or 1.5" X 1.5" wood slats that are made into a square panel. These skirt panels will be used around my front porch to hide the contents below the porch deck.
