Sistering Floor Joists

This old farmhouse had old bones that needed some reinforcement.  The house had settled about 4 inches across 16 feet, and was one of the first things I set my mind on to fix.  In the attic there was an old chimney that weighed about 1 ton and was removed.  In the basement they had added a ground level window and an opening to the crawl space of the addition.  Both of these had butt ends of the pressure treated sill plate unsupported.  This caused some settling and needed to be addressed. …
