My office is about a half mile away from this house and I have driven by from time to time. The house is being restored albeit slowly so it is not really lost. It is however a cautionary tale

It is a shame, this house was a jewel in Ortega.

According to one news report Tom Francis of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department said the house caught fire when workers were using a blow torch to strip paint on the exterior. This is always a shame because there are other methods of paint removal that will not burn down the house, such as chemical, mechanical or steam paint removal:
